Minutes of meeting
held in Bricklayers Arms Monday 7/4/08

Equipment/track - Tony
Johnson will chase
up Tesco’s equipment order which still has not been received. ajs reported that
Sainsbury vouchers can only be unused by schools or scout groups. GG still
trying to arrange meeting with Guttmann authorities re state of track/facilities.
Coaches to remind athletes re track etiquette and track safety. Agreed that
there should be no activity taking place on the infield during training
sessions from 1.4 -30.9, apart from the throws group activities. During
the winter there should be a no throws night. AJS to ask Mike Wise to put a
reminder on the website.
X country relays - AJS
to have 'post mortem' with Pete Bennewith .Pete is going to issue a working
procedure document for the event.
Officials - ajs asked
gg to email existing officials to see if any are available/willing to help out
at the EYAL fixtures. GG will also give copy of latest officials contact list
to DK & AJS
NJAL - NJAL will have
shortened timetable this summer. Louise Card and Andrew Bleakley have expressed
an interest in helping with the management of the team
Volunteers/coaching -
Tony Shears, Ryan North and Phil Magnall have all done their level 1 courses.
GG will chase
up re CRB checks.
Last county squad day
was attended by 8-9 VOA athletes in the snow! GG still pursuing Lee Cobley and Brenda
Russell to help with coaching.
NT has arranged paid
specialist coaching for the summer. Trisha Mcsweeney, a high jump/long jump
coach from MK, will be holding sessions on Thursdays from late April. NT
hopes to be able to attract a hurdles coach later in the summer.
Kestrels - a
kestrels/induction meeting for relevant coaches to be arranged
Social events - this
is on hold due to lack of social secretary and the priority of annual memberships
for pat card.
X country - the
distribution of leaflets was q. successful and over 30 youngsters had attended the
start track course held in bitter weather conditions over Easter. Several
youngsters had also attended training as a result of our efforts at wing.
Vests/hoodies - more club vests have been ordered and another
hoody order will be going in.
Indoor training - Steve
Rooney will speak to Lyn Brittain to rebook the indoor sports hall
New initiatives - AJS
gave details of trackpride to HC in case he decides to take his group to a
major meeting
Club development - GG
asked for ideas for the club's overall aims, i.e. it's 'mission statement'. After
some debate the suggested wording (to be discussed further by the exec
committee) was we want to be a good local club (efficient and well run),
delivering the best quality coaching and to attract and retain the best
local athletes.'
Athlete’s agreement
letter - HC has emailed his letter to Jim Rayner
CRB checks - Henry Edward
Evans and mike wise will continue to be checkers and are aware of the 2009
timescale
First aid cover - Jamie
Johnson has started work as our first aid coordinator. The first aid kit is
being upgraded. NT has emailed all coaches details
of sports first aid courses.
Membership application
form - application forms are ok and have gone out. Pat Card had asked that all
athletes be reminded to carry their membership cards whenever they attend the
track
AOB
Waddesdon 5k - there
did not seem to be any reason why age 14 athletes could not run this event and
why u17s should not have their own prize - NT to raise these omissions with John
Gibson
Club records - AJS
will organise meeting with mike wise to update indoor and outdoor records
County champs - entry
forms are now out and must be returned to mike wise by 26.4
Athlete’s ukase
registration - we need to seek guidance from the exec committee on our approach
as there are a number of queries and grey areas.
Club promotion - a new
leaflet has been produced to put in local sports shops and gyms.
Multi events - bucks will
be promoting an u13 minithon as part of their
