Minutes of Young Athletes group held at Bricklayers Arms, Monday 10 March

Present: Harry Czapski, Tony Johnson, Pat Card, AJS, Graham Gorman, Nick Taylor, Terri Gadsby, Dick Knowles and Peter hall, Colin

Equipment/track Tesco order still to be dispatched. AJS to investigate if Sainsbury's vouchers can be collected by the club. GG to have meeting with authorities at Guttmann re state of the track/facilities

X Country Relays Went v. well with 45 teams competing. Well supported by club members. Lots of marshals, course was well laid out and the organisation went v. efficiently. Vote of thanks to Peter Bennewith for his input- was good to see the club rally round and support the event.

Officials Still no response to our appeals for help with officiating

NJAL first match clashes with EYAL but EYAL is priority for under 17s

Volunteers/Coaching Tony Shears, Paul Wright, Phil Magnall and Ryan Nolan all interested in doing level 1.GG will contact Mike Wise to make sure they are CRB checked.

3 athletes are going regularly to Brunel Uni Pole Vault sessions

Last County Squad day is 6 April at Brunel Univ.

GG has spoken to Brenda Russell and Lee Copley, who may be interested in helping out with some coaching

Kestrels Oxford 5 star clashes with EYAL so may well not be well attended.

Social Events Ex Serviceman’s club is booked for 29.11.08 for annual presentation evening. DK, PC & GG to investigate possible speakers. Lots of venues being offered to PC to hold a race night.

X Country leaflets and business cards will be distributed at Wing District Schools X country champs to promote club. PH may have a format letter/leaflet suitable for youngsters - he will liaise with PC

Vests/Hoodies Hoodies still selling well. New Polo shirts will cost approx £10.50. 'VOAAC' design approved. PC has plenty of club vests in preparation for the summer

Indoor Training AJS to get Steve Rooney to rebook indoor sports hall

Concerns for the future 30+ Members at AGM - exec has been completely rebuilt and has been slimmed down. GG q. happy with how things are going

Unsupervised athletes -problem now seems to be resolves

New initiatives AJS handed out details of Track pride. PC still investigating runningsports.org

Club Development GG gave handout of development plan.

Athletes’ agreement letter issue discussed again - copy to be given to Jim Rayner for his group.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

CRB Checks DK highlighted that all coaches CRB checks will need to be renewed in early 2009. GG will raise issue of whether we have 'checkers' in place to verify these applications.

Paid coaches - NT asked if we were happy to bring in paid coaches for specific periods to cover events where we have no coaching coverage- unanimous agreement

1st aid Cover GG is looking at the club's 1st aid coverage .Jamie Johnson has agreed to be our First Aid Coordinator

Membership Application Form- PC asked if anything needed to be added to application form. DK will check with club's Welfare Officer to see if anything else needed to be covered.

Venue/Next meeting Meeting was happy with this new venue and agreed to continue, with the next meeting being booked with the Bricklayers arms for Monday 7 April
